If you're going to do something, do it right. This adage applies to anything, including playing golf. Every golfer would love to know the techniques in improving his or her swing. They are willing to push themselves further but some are not willing to practice because they are easily frustrated if they do not get it in their first try.
Golfers usually band-aid their approach in improving their game. This is quite painless but it is ineffective because they are aware of their faults but they do nothing to solve the problem.
Golf swing is only learned by practicing it for about a week or maybe even two. Perfecting your golf swing is not easy. It takes effort. If you wish to improve then you have to be prepared in failing at the first try. You will hit the ball so bad that your swing feels uncomfortable and quite awkward. But if you think about this, it will push you to practice more and develop the coordination you are lacking.
A golfer must have a goal. This motivates him to do better. Sometimes, there are golfers who reach a particular level and fail to improve from there. A study shows that the average golfer can reach this level in only three years playing the game. When a golfer sticks with the same program despite the awkwardness and frustration, then this will not improve his swing.
Try it out yourself. Practice properly - meaning under the guidance of an instructor, if possible - for let's say a month. Soon enough, you will notice that there will be changes in your swing. If not, don't be frustrated and give up. Deal with it by working on the problem.
In order for you to improve, you must be able to comprehend the learning process relating to your golf swing. You may practice for a lot of hours each day and as much as five to six days in a week and not improve at all. The reason to this is quite simple: you were not able to understand the requirement in achieving the improvement that you've been meaning to get.
Everyone is aware that practice is crucial in order to improve golf skills. However, if one practices the wrong way, then one will only get worse. Therefore, by practicing the right way and the right things, one will definitely improve.
The first step in improving your game is taking note of what needs work on. The key here is muscle memory. It takes quite an amount of time to learn simple motions for the body. In fact, it sometimes takes longer.
Therefore, take your time in learning one thing and perfecting it before you move to another.
If you want to improve your swing, know that there are two processes working when you do it. 1.) You have to change your technique in a gradual and not in an instantaneous manner. 2.) You have to adapt to how your change this movement.
The change must be gradual. You should have an immediate goal that will allow you to become a better golfer. But do not rush in perfecting the new technique that you are working on. Take your time to learn it properly.
Muscle memory happens when there is a conscious effort putting the body in a specific position and moving it in a certain way. Therefore, the transition from the conscious action into an action that is already automatic does not need to have too much thought. It is as if the muscles already have their own mind. They can do complex actions and not need the person to exert too much thought in doing so.
Some golfers hire instructors so that they can do their practice swings correctly. They also want to learn a particular golf instruction which professional golf instructors know in the back of their hands. They do not want to be taught the method golf instruction which is the generic swing taught to every student trying to learn golf. They want instructors to work on the golfer's particular needs.
Finally, teaching the fundamentals of golf swing is golf instruction so you have the right to not take in the generic method golf instruction if you feel that you will not be able to improve your swing and later on your game.
